On this page you will find some prayers that you may find useful. Some of them we use regularly in our worship and personal devotions, others are used less frequently or, perhaps, might be useful for particular times or situations. Remember, though, that prayer is a dialogue - so speak to God, but listen for Him speaking to you, too!
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Collect for Purity
unto Whom all hearts be open,
all desires known,
and from Whom no secretes are hid:
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love Thee,
and worthily magnify Thy holy Name:
through Christ our Lord.
Hail Holy Queen
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
A Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, giver of Life,
Who didst overshadow the Blessed Virgin Mary
that she might become the Mother our Lord,
do Thou likewise, work silently within my heart,
to form within me,
the fullness of His redeemed
and redeeming humanity;
that my heart may burn
with love of God and love for men.
Give me a share, in His joy and His sorrow,
His weakness and His strength,
His labour for the world's salvation.
May Mary, blessed among women, pray for me,
that Christ may be formed within me,
and that I may live in
union of heart and will with Him,
Who is alive and reigns at the Father's right hand,
now and for ever.
Collect for the Feast of St John the Evangelist
we beseech Thee to cast
Thy bright beams of light upon Thy Church,
that it being enlightened by the doctrine
of Thy blessed Apostle and Evangelist Saint John
may so walk in the light of Thy truth,
that it may at length
attain to the light of everlasting life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Collect for the Feast of the Holy Cross
O God, Who by the Passion of Thy blessed Son
hast made the instrument of shameful death
to be unto us the means of life and peace:
grant us so to glory in the Cross of Christ,
that we may gladly suffer shame and loss;
for the sake of the same Thy Son our Lord.
